Katie Allen: Kinesiology (Including Food Intolerance Testing)
Tuesdays 11.00-12.00 Other days and times may also be possible – please enquire.
Kinesiology is a completely safe non-invasive holistic therapy that can help everyone, from the elderly to young babies. It works on every level of health: physical, psychological, emotional, nutritional and spiritual, enabling the therapist to get to the root cause of the problem, instead of merely masking the symptoms.
A series of gentle muscle tests enable the Kinesiologist to get a picture of what is happening in your meridian system and how this might be affecting your body. When imbalances are found, treatment is carried out in the form of massage, stimulation of acupuncture points, energy work, use of flower remedies and emotional work, among other techniques.
Tests are also conducted for nutritional deficiencies (that can be resolved with supplements or through the diet). Many people are deficient in key vitamins and minerals because of pollution, food processing and additives etc. and tend to buy the ones they 'think' they need. Kinesiology takes away the guesswork and helps you pinpoint exact supplements or dietary changes needed to help restore health.
Kinesiology can also be used to detect food intolerances which can manifest in a variety of symptoms, including migraines, skin complaints and behavioural issues. If an intolerance is found, that food should be avoided for a time but can then usually be re-introduced carefully back into the diet.
Kinesiology doesn't diagnose or treat disease in the conventional sense, but asks the body to reveal what it needs to restore energy balance and a sense of wellbeing by accessing your subconscious mind, where the key to your health is held. Your body has an innate ability to heal itself in balanced conditions.
Please note that, as with any complementary health care treatment, Kinesiology is not a substitute for seeing your doctor and can be used alongside any medical treatment. If you have an illness or injury, you should consult your doctor.
About the Kinesiology session
During the first session around 10-15 minutes will be spent talking about your lifestyle, diet, medical problems and emotional state so that Katie can get a picture of your health.
You will then be asked to take off your shoes and lie down, fully clothed, on the treatment couch. A series of painless muscle resistance tests will be carried out mainly on your arms and legs and then treatment will take place as outlined above.
It is advisable to wear comfortable clothing during the treatment to allow for easy bending of arms and legs. Although changes in health are often experienced after just one session, 3-6 sessions are usually recommended, depending on the reason for your visit and the severity of your problem.
Some of the conditions that Kinesiology can address:
- aches & pains
- digestive issues
- emotional issues
- hormonal imbalance
- skin complaints
- stress related issues
- food intolerance testing
Katie first experienced Kinesiology around ten years ago when she started to experience health problems for which her doctor was unable to find satisfactory solutions. She was so overwhelmed by how powerful it was, encompassing so many aspects of different therapies, that she decided to learn it herself. She started practising two years ago and has recently furthered her skills to Diploma level. Her aim is to help her clients take full responsibility for their health, as well as their thoughts and attitudes.
