In addition to her CBT training, Polly has specific skills in short term CBT interventions and is experienced in working within a 6 session model for those who are struggling with milder problems.
Background, Qualifications and Experience
Since graduating with a degree in Psychology in 2012, Polly has worked within NHS services with people who experience a broad range of psychological difficulties.
In 2013 Polly completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Evidence Based Psychological Therapies, which qualified her to offer short term CBT to individuals struggling with low mood and anxiety.
In 2015 Polly undertook further study at the University of Oxford and gained her Postgraduate Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), which equipped her to work with a range of difficulties, including depression, generalised anxiety disorder, OCD, Social Anxiety, Phobias and PTSD.
Alongside, her private practice, Polly works part time as a Cognitive Therapist and Researcher in Oxford, developing pioneering ways of delivering Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.
Polly believes that a warm, trusting therapeutic relationship is the foundation for effective therapy. She encourages clients to play an active role in their therapy, whilst also offering her guidance, support and expertise.
Polly predominantly uses a cognitive behavioural framework and will work collaboratively with you to come to an agreed understanding of your current difficulties. She will create an individual treatment package for you as opposed to using a strict treatment protocol, recognising that people often don't meet just one diagnostic criterion and that people often have more than one goal or hope for treatment.
Whilst Polly is purely CBT trained, when appropriate she draws upon theory and techniques from other modalities such as mindfulness, compassion focused therapy and solution focused therapy.
Prior to booking an initial session, Polly encourages clients to arrange a short phone call with her so she can answer any initial questions you may have.
A 50 minute session is charged at £60.00 and fees are payable by bank transfer prior to the session or in cash at the beginning of the session.
Polly does offer concessionary rates for those on a low income, so please contact her for further information.
Polly is a registered with the following Health Insurance companies: Aviva, Cigna, AXA PPP Healthcare, Healix and WPA.
Cancellation policy - Appointments cancelled with less than 48 hours' notice will be charged at the full session rate. Polly is happy to offer a telephone appointment if you’re unable to make it to the session, for example due to childcare or transport difficulties.
