Malai Sontheimer BAc MB AcC Dip Psychosynthesis Counselling MBACP

Malai Sontheimer holds a Diploma for Therapeutic Counselling.  She trained at the Institute for Psychosynthesis in London from 1988 to 1991 and is a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).  Malai has also trained in the Option method; a cognitive, behavioural approach which helps people look at their belief systems, attitudes and judgements.  She has 20 years of experience working in private practice, mainly with individuals.  Malai also has a wealth of life experience.

In Psychosynthesis we will focus on the challenges and opportunities that the present offers.  We may look at the patterns that were created in our childhood so that we understand ourselves better.  We may include our dreams for the future, in order that we can come closer to fulfilling our potential in life.

Counselling acts like a conductor, bringing different musicians together in an orchestra.  It helps a person to look at all the different, often conflicting parts of themselves, in order to find a more integrated whole.

It can help with:

  • Accepting as well as changing yourself.
  • Finding better ways of resolving problems and conflicts.
  • Having a safe place to meet difficult emotions, understand and transform them.
  • Experiencing more freedom and choice.
  • Finding your way forward with renewed strength, meaning and purpose.

Malai works with any individual and their unique life situation.  She is able to create a warm, easy and completely confidential space for you to address your issues in.

In addition, she has a lot of experience in working with teenagers and young people, as well as people who lack confidence, are depressed, anxious, angry, self-critical, traumatised etc.  She has worked with many parents, as well as parents of children with special needs, people with special needs, people who have retired, as well as people diagnosed with cancer and other serious diseases.

Malai practises at:

The Southville Clinic, 68 Coronation Road, Bristol, BS3 1AS.
