Jamie de Carvalho: Psychotherapy and Counselling
Mondays and Thursdays - Other days may be available.
Jamie de Carvalho, MSc (MBACP)
Dealing with your problems alone can feel isolating.
Perhaps you had a damaging childhood which you would like to speak about or maybe you are having relationship difficulties. My focus is on getting to know you and, through this, you getting to know yourself. I seek to have an open and honest dialogue with my client which is something that many people are missing in their lives.
You may think of yourself as being depressed or as having anxiety or a health professional may have given you a diagnosis of a mood or personality disorder. I think of this simply as the way that you have learned to react to your world. We all have difficulties in our lives and we each react to these difficulties in very different ways. Therapy is a place to begin to understand your relationship with your difficulties and how this relationship affects your life.
I typically see clients once weekly for 50 minutes and we can discuss over what period we see each other. Many clients find it helpful to see a therapist over a few years once they begin to learn more about themselves while others are content to have a smaller number of sessions. We can agree a day and time to hold sessions when you call. If you would like to learn more about yourself, please give me a call, text or email.
I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP) and adhere to their Ethical Framework for Good Practice. I have regular supervision which ensures I am practicing ethically and in accordance with BACP.

Over the course of five years of psychotherapy training I have worked with a wide variety of individuals from varying backgrounds and cultures. Some came to speak to me about a difficulty they were having in a relationship while others came to speak about the voices they heard on a regular basis. I have had clients from the Middle East, clients who are homosexual and clients who are old and young; whatever their background, my clients have benefited from speaking to someone interested in them.
Prior to training as a psychotherapist I worked for many years in an NHS mental health trust in both inpatient and community services. Many of the individuals I worked with were at extremely low points in their life and it was rewarding to be able to help them. After this I began working with unpaid carers
My typical rate is £45 per session, though we can discuss this in our initial consultation.
